Email Your MP: Fund Women’s Safety Now!

Women should have the right to safety in their own homes. And yet, right now, for many Australian women, their homes are the most dangerous place they could be – with one woman a week being killed at the hands of her partner or ex-partner, eight women a week being hospitalised, and over 5,000 women per week relying upon police intervention for safety.

This has to stop!

Women’s Safety NSW is a state-wide peak body for women’s specialist services- representing hundreds of workers across the state on the frontline supporting nearly 100,000 women and children escaping domestic and family violence every year.

It is the voice for women’s safety – providing critical advice to governments on much needed policy, practice and law reform and cultural change leadership in public debate and community conversations.

And yet, at a time when it has never been more needed, this critical peak body remains one of the most underfunded of its kind.

The consequence of this underfunding is a silencing of women’s voices – which means less action on addressing this epidemic!

Please use your voice to call on the NSW State Government to support Women’s Safety NSW in leading the change we need to see to create a safer NSW for women.

Tell your local MP and state MLCs, a good government prioritises the safety of its citizens. And right now, 1 in 4 women in NSW are not safe in their own homes. Tell them they need to properly resource the representative voice for women’s safety – Women’s Safety NSW – to lead the change we need to see to create a safer NSW for women.
