Anger is growing over a system that let Kelly Wilkinson, and so many other domestic violence victims down

Channel 10’s ‘The Project,’ reported on the tragic death of Kelly Wilkinson. Wilkinson had taken out an ADVO and contacted police twice about her estranged husband, just days before her body was found bound and burned in her backyard.

Hayley Foster stated, “The use of an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order in most cases will increase safety and reduce risk for victims of domestic and family violence. However it is not fool proof.”

She added, “They’re dragging down the reputation of the rest of the police service and they make it difficult for women to have trust and faith that they will get an appropriate response.”
